SUSTAINABILITY

At Great Eastern Energy it is our mission to empower people with the knowledge they need to make better energy decisions. We are at the forefront of the sustainability movement and are focused on promoting positive energy behaviors and reducing consumption.

There are a variety of benefits that come with going green and reducing your energy consumption. You'll not only be helping the environment, but your bank account, health and quality of life can also be positively affected by moving towards sustainability.

  • Choosing sustainable energy is easier than you may think! Learn more from Great Eastern Energy's CEO, Matt Lanfear, who explains just how easy it is to make renewable energy a part of your energy portfolio.

  • In America: Choosing Sustainable Energy Is Easier Than You Think

Sustainability Facts:

  • Recycling just one ton of paper saves 20 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, 60 pounds of air pollutants and enough energy to power the average home for 6 months.
  • Air pollution can increase our chances of asthma, allergies and even lung cancer. Taking part in green initiatives, such as planting trees and recycling, can help reduce pollution and improve our ability to breath.
  • Investing in renewable energy sources can help grow the United States economy. In 2014, over 31,000 jobs were created in the solar industry alone.
  • Going green is also good for your bank account! Homeowners and businesses can save approximately 10% annually by installing programmable thermostats.

Ways to Go Green:

Going green is easier than you may think. There are many simple changes you can do in your daily life to promote sustainability. Check out some of the Great Eastern Energy team's favorite green tips:

  • Recycle! Recycling just one aluminum can will save enough energy to run a TV for 3 hours.
  • Switch to LED light bulbs. They are 90% more efficient than traditional bulbs and last up to 20 times longer so they don't need to be replaced as often.
  • Wash laundry in cold water whenever possible. If everyone in the United States used cold water, we would save $3 billion in energy costs each year.
Carpool with friends and family. By carpooling just twice a week, 1,600 pounds of greenhouse gases can be kept out of the air each year.
  • Join the Meatless Monday Movement. It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce just one pound of beef. This can reduce water consumption, greenhouse gases and your waistline! Follow us on Facebook for weekly #MeatlessMonday recipes.
  • How to Go Green with Great Eastern Energy

An easy way to be more sustainable is by choosing to purchase renewable electricity. As part of our commitment to sustainable energy, Great Eastern Energy is proud to offer fixed renewable electricity plans. When you choose a renewable electricity plan, you will receive Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). RECs are proof that clean energy has been generated and represent the environmental benefits of 1 megawatt hour of renewable energy generation.

When you sign up for a renewable energy plan, you will also receive:

    • A "GEE Green" sticker to place on your door of business
    • A signed renewable energy certificate to display
    • A full sheet of energy saving stickers
  • What is a Renewable Energy Certificate?
  • Ener-G Tracker
  • Reduce Your Energy Consumption

You can also be more sustainable by simply reducing your overall energy consumption. Our new web-based platform, Ener-G Tracker, helps our customers understand and reduce their energy consumption by measuring, tracking and comparing their property's energy performance. Ener-G Tracker offers many energy saving tips and will even alert you when your monthly usage is reaching high levels.
