He then spent the next six years focused on capital markets. In 1992, Scott found his true passion and began working on JP Morgan’s energy derivatives desk. In this capacity, he was responsible for the origination of oil and gas deals throughout many of the major energy markets within the U.S. While at JP Morgan, Scott worked with a diverse group of producers and consumers to manage their energy price risk and help finance acquisitions of producing reserves.
In 1998, Scott joined Sempra Energy Trading’s derivatives desk, eventually moving to Sempra’s East Gas desk in 2000. Scott was part of the team that managed Sempra’s Northeast Energy markets portfolio from 2005-2008. It was during this time that Scott became recognized as one of the top traders of physical energy products and derivative products in the industry. Scott later joined Freepoint Commodities in 2010, where he was offered an opportunity to lead the East Gas book of business. After a change in strategy, Scott left Freepoint to focus his talents more on the retail side of the business, joining Great Eastern Energy in 2013 as Executive Vice President of Gas Operations.
Scott is responsible for all facets of the company’s natural gas retail/wholesale book of business. During his tenure, Scott has implemented several highly technical trading and optimization tools aimed at helping Great Eastern Energy’s clients “thrive”. Scott lives in New Canaan, CT where he is an active member of his community and recently completed a five year term as Utility Commissioner for the Town of New Canaan.
